DOYLESTOWN (PA) – A wild, 16-14 victory in the second game gave host Delaware Valley University a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom split with Manhattanville College on Sunday. The Valiants took the opener, 7-3.

The Aggies saw their season marks go to 9-7 overall and 3-5 in the MAC Freedom while Manhattanville moved to 9-12 and 4-4. The two teams will conclude their three-game series with a single, nine-inning game in Purchase, New York on Tuesday, April 11 (3:30 p.m.).

In game two, DelVal trailed by one as it came to bat in the bottom of the first, but quickly took the lead with two runs on two hits, including an RBI double from
Josh Morgan. The Aggies went back to work in the second with three more runs on another two hits, capped off by a two-run double to right field from
Nate Cummings that made it a 5-1 game.

Manhattanville put together a big third inning with six runs on three hits and three errors to take its first lead of the game, 7-5. However, DelVal responded kindly with 11 runs on 11 hits over the next two innings for a commanding 16-7 advantage. Its five-run, third featured another run-scoring double from Cummings while
Kevin Crill knocked in two with a single. Two-run singles by Morgan and
Trevor Mussleman highlighted the fourth inning.

The Valiants made things interesting by scoring six runs over the fourth and sixth innings for a 16-13 score. Then in the seventh, an RBI double by Robbie Lynch made it a two-run game and brought the tying run to the plate. However,
Trevor Dalton got the final out for the save.

Cummings was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs while Morgan was 3-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Crill had two hits, scored two runs and knocked in three. Musselman and
Jeremy Stewart each drove in two runs. Brenden Giampa picked up the win in relief.

Lynch was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBIs for Manhattanville in the nightcap.

The Valiants got one run in the top of the first inning of the opener before stranding three runners on base. After a leadoff walk, Lynch hit a double to the right-center gap for the game's first run. DelVal failed to respond after getting its first two runners aboard in the bottom of the frame.

The Aggies took the lead in the bottom of the second when an RBI single from
Steve Smith scored
Bobby Altieri and Cummings hit a sacrifice fly to plate
Matt Beyer for a one-run lead.

In the top of the third, the Valiants got their leadoff hitter on for Luke Scoggins who stepped up with a two-run home run to right field. They would tack on two more in the frame to take a 5-2 lead. DelVal got one back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Beyer.

Manhattanville scored on sacrifice flies in the fifth and sixth innings and shutdown the Aggie offense to take the opener, 7-3.

Beyer went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and one run scored.
Jeremy Hefele took the loss.

The Valiants were led by a 2-for-3 effort with two RBIs and one run scored from Scoggins. Joe Booker was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and William Mohr picked up the win in relief with three punch outs.Â
