Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University got goals from six different players, but it was visiting Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe King's College that came away with the 15-9 victory.
The Monarchs upped their record to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in MAC Freedom games while the Aggies fell to 7-3 and 1-2.
King's went up 2-0 early in this game with goals separated by just 40 seconds. Gabriella Morrocu got the first and Katy Higinbothom buried a free position attempt for the second.
Neither team scored over the next nine minutes of play before DelVal got on the board with a free position goal from
Amanda McKeegan. From there, the Monarchs put together a 4-1 run over the next 17 minutes to take a 6-2 advantage with a minute and a half left in the first. Three different players scored in the spurt including a pair of goals from Anastasia Araviakis. The Aggies' goal came from
Kara Imes and made it 3-2 at the time.
In the final minute before the break, the two teams combined for four goals with two apiece. McKeegan got the first on a free position attempt, but Kendra McCoy countered with two quick tallies for the Monarchs. In the waning seconds, McKeegan set up
Taylor Teliszewski with a beautiful pass and the junior beat the keeper from in tight to make it an 8-4 game at halftime.
King's extended its lead to five just over a minute into the second stanza, but DelVal responded with the next two tallies to pull within three.
Jordan Sanocki scored the first on a beautiful individual effort and Teliszewski set up Imes for the Aggies to make it 9-6.
The Monarchs then scored the next four goals of the game, the last two coming from Morrocu, to make it 13-6.
Teliszewski got one back after a feed from Graeliegh Lackey, but King's scored the next two to take its largest lead of the game at 15-7. DelVal capitalized on two free position attempts down the stretch, but it was not enough as the Monarchs took the 15-9 victory.
Imes, McKeegan and Teliszewski all scored twice with McKeegan and Teliszewski also notching one assist apiece. McKeegan also had seven ground balls while Imes had four ground balls and seven draw controls. Lackey added a goal and an assist and
Janee' Rhone and Sanocki had the other tallies.
Amanda Dietrich stopped 12 shots in the effort.
Morrocu (five goals) and Araviakis (four goals) combined for nine of King's15 tallies and McCoy added five points with three goals and two assists. Megan O'Brien led the team with six ground balls and four caused turnovers while Victoria Zawacki made 10 saves.
The Aggies will resume MAC Freedom play next Wednesday, April 19 when they travel to FDU-Florham to take on the Devils at 4 p.m.
