Box Score KINGSTON (PA) – Delaware Valley University opened its three-game, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom series with Wilkes University by dropping an 8-1 road decision on Thursday.
The Colonels improved to 7-16 overall and 2-8 in league play while the Aggie slipped to 9-9 and 3-7. The series will now shift to Doylestown for a doubleheader on Friday (12 p.m.).
Wilkes scored two times in the third on a two-run single by Joshua Slocum. The Colonels then added single runs in the next three innings for a 5-0 advantage.
DelVal got its lone run of the game in the top of the seven as
Kyle Wenger singled and scored on
Josh Morgan's triple to right-center field.
Wilkes responded with a run in the sixth and two in the eighth for the 8-1 triumph. Slocum finished with two hits and three runs batted in. Chris Nixon went the first six innings for the win as he permitted just one hit and fanned eight.
Wenger had two of the Aggies' four hits as he went 2-for-4 with the run scored on the afternoon. Morgan had the RBI triple for the third hit of the game and
Steve Smith added a single.
Trevor Dalton went five innings and took the loss.
