DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team wrapped up its three-game home stand with a 3-0 non-conference victory over Yeshiva University on Tuesday.
The Aggies upped their record to 3-8 while the Maccabees dropped to 0-13.
DelVal opened the match with the first five points. The closest that Yeshiva came after that point was three (5-2) as the Aggies went on to win the set, 25-13.
The teams were tied at three early in the second set before DelVal tallied eight of the next nine for an 11-4 advantage. However, the Maccabees followed with five of the next six points to cut the deficit to 12-9. With the score 14-11, the Aggies reeled off 11 straight points to clinch the set, 25-11. Ten of the points came off the serve of sophomore
Kourtney Campbell, who had four service aces in that span.
In the final set, DelVal held leads of 4-1, 8-4 and 13-7 but Yeshiva then rallied to tie the score at 15 apiece. After some back and forth play, the Aggies led 18-17. They then went on a 7-1 run to end the match, winning the third set, 25-18.
Junior
Taylor Klecan led DelVal with 11 kills and added six digs. Freshman
Kate Woolsey totaled nine kills and 13 digs while senior
Nicole Daigneault produced 26 assists and eight digs. Campbell ended the match with four service aces.
Delaware Valley returns to conference play when it travels to King's College on Wednesday, September 28 (7:00 p.m.).
