PURCHASE (NY) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team ended the 2016 campaign with a 15-8 loss at Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opponent Manhattanville College on Saturday.
The Aggies finished their second intercollegiate season with a 5-9 record, 0-6 in the conference. The Valiants conclude with a 6-10 mark and they went 1-5 in the MAC Freedom.
DelVal led 2-1 with 22:05 to go in the first half after goals by sophomores
Krystal Serdinsky and
Graeleigh Lackey. Manhattanville followed with four straight markers by four different players for a 5-2 advantage. The teams alternated goals at that point until it was 8-5 in favor of the Valiants with 1:25 left. Carly Weiss recorded the final tally of the period with 33 seconds on the clock and Manhattanville led 9-5 at the intermission.
The Valiants produced the first two goals of the second half to go ahead by six. Serdinsky and Lackey struck again for the Aggies, separated by a Manhattanville goal, and DelVal was within five (12-7). The Valiants pulled away with three consecutive tallies and sophomore
Taylor Teliszewski ended the scoring with 2:12 remaining.
Kat Reilly led Manhattanville with six points on four goals and two assists. Weiss totaled three goals and one assist while Jenna Nance and Sarah Dalsey picked up three points apiece. Weiss also controlled six draws. Olivia Drew and Katie Zambrotta each had two points. Lauren Cassidy made 11 saves for the win.
Lackey ended up with three goals and Serdinsky potted two. Sophomores
Janee' Rhone and
Kara Imes and Teliszewski all hit the back of the net one time. Freshman
Taylor Spleen had eight draw controls. Freshman
Amanda Dietrich stopped a school-record 20 shots in goal.
