Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Misericordia University scored 11 straight goals to break open a close game and down host Delaware Valley University, 17-5, in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom game.
The Cougars improved to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in conference action while the Aggies fell to 5-6 and 0-3. Prior to the contest, DelVal held its Senior Day ceremony and honored midfielder/defender
Jacqueline Ricks.
Misericordia scored first, but the Aggies answered just 42 seconds later when
Lydia Spakosky scored on a free position shot. They trailed again before a
Taylor Teliszewski tally made it a 2-2 contest. Erin Baker and Olivia Garcia found the back of the net to give the Cougars a 4-2 advantage, but DelVal came back and pulled to within one when Teliszewski connected again with 5:17 left in the first half.
However, the rest of the game belonged to Misericordia as four different players scored before halftime to give the visitors a 9-3 lead at the break. The Cougars then tallied three goals in the first four minutes of the second stanza and eventually built a 15-3 advantage. DelVal notched the next two goals as
Taylor Spleen and Spakosky scored with 10:39 and 6:06 remaining. Misericordia added the final two tallies for the 17-5 final.
Misericordia was led by Baker's four goals and one assist for five points. Ashley Hobbs added three goals while Garcia, Allie Elmes, Lindsay McKim and Emily Russin each found the net twice. Katie McLoughlin and Jenn Gazdick combined for three saves.
Spakosky and Teliszewski had two goals each for the Aggies with Teliszewski also notching five ground balls. Spleen added one goal, eight draw controls, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Amanda Dietrich recorded seven saves in the loss.
DelVal will travel to Eastern University for a MAC Freedom game on Wednesday, April 20.
