Box Score WILKES-BARRE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University baseball team opened a run of six, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom games over a five-day period with a 5-2 setback at King's College on Wednesday.
 
The Aggies fell to 10-8 overall and 2-6 in conference play while the Monarchs improved to 14-7 and 4-4. The two teams will complete their series next Sunday, April 24 with a rescheduled doubleheader at DelVal. Meanwhile, the rest of this week has the Aggies set to battle Misericordia for a three-game series on Friday (home for a nine-inning single game) and Saturday (on the road for a doubleheader) as well as a doubleheader at Eastern University on Sunday.
 
King's picked up a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Sean Padden. The Monarchs then added three more in the fourth, including a two-run single by Tom Gibbons. It became 5-0 in the fifth on a run-scoring base hit by Kyle Lupas.
 
DelVal got on the board in the sixth as Kevin Crill singled, moved to third on a double by Matt Dewald and scored on a ground out by Jeremy Stewart. Corey White then led off the seventh with a solo home run over the right field fence, but that was the last hit of the game for the Aggies.
 
King's John Wickiser pitched six strong innings and picked up the win. Andrew Fisher did not allow a baserunner in the eighth and ninth stanza, en route to the save. Lupas and Padden had two hits apiece.
 
Dewald had a multiple-hit game with a 2-for-4 showing. White was 1-for-4 with the home run. Jeremy Hefele pitched four innings and took the loss.
