DelVal never led in the contest, but tied it up at 2-2 just 85 seconds into the second quarter when Nick Shendge scored off a PJ Rafferty assist (Chris Johnsen picked up the first goal for the Aggies in the opening quarter off a feed from Austin Sensenig). Shenandoah scored three of the next four goals – DelVal's lone tally came from Rafferty – to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.

Connor Bishop's second goal of the game with 3:03 remaining in the third quarter gave the Hornets their largest lead of the game a 6-3 Sensenig struck two minutes later off a Cori Grobes assist and Rafferty opened the fourth quarter with a goal just 16 seconds in to make it a one-goal contest.

Stephen LaTona answered for Shenandoah, but back came the Aggies as Tyler Roberto found the back of the net with 10:04 remaining. The teams went scoreless for more than six minutes before LaTona gave the Hornets some breathing room with his third goal of the afternoon.
