Schneider Sets Single Season Points Record In Season Finale at Kings

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Kieran Schneider recorded five points and passed PJ Rafferty for the Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse single-season points record in a 15-6 loss to King's College in the 2025 season finale.

The Monarchs won the opening faceoff and tested freshman goalie Daniel Hickling early, but he stood tall to make the stop. Schneider helped the Aggies clear the zone and fired a shot at the other end, but it sailed wide. After a turnover by Dalton Richter, King's hit the post three minutes into play. Later in the first quarter, following a missed shot by Luke Witko, a turnover by Schneider led to a goal by King's Connor Lynch, putting the Monarchs ahead 1-0 with 7:34 remaining. King's kept the momentum, netting three more goals in less than 40 seconds to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Schneider registered the Aggies' first shot on goal with just under five minutes to play, but it was turned aside. In the final minute of the quarter, King's hit the post again, and Hickling made another save to keep DelVal within reach. The Aggies nearly got on the board before time expired, but their shot clanged off the post.

DelVal opened the second quarter with strong zone time, generating two shots on goal in the first five minutes. After a turnover caused by Schneider, the Aggies had a prime scoring chance, but again were denied. A pushing penalty against Owen Kelly gave King's a man-up opportunity, and the Monarchs capitalized to extend their lead to 5-0. King's continued to pressure, hitting the post twice and forcing another sprawling save from Hickling. The Aggies finally broke through late in the half, as a crisp tic-tac-toe passing play from Ryley Savering found Schneider, who finished to make it 5-1 heading into the break.

Schneider opened the third quarter with a man-up goal, beating his defender and slipping a shot five-hole for his 60th point of the season — tying PJ Rafferty's 2016 DelVal single-season record. Hickling made a pair of saves following the goal, but constant pressure from King's led to two quick strikes less than a minute apart, pushing the lead to 7-2. After Hickling was called for an illegal body check and left the game, Danil Didden entered the cage but surrendered two more Monarchs goals, as King's extended their advantage to 9-2. The Aggies trailed by 10 entering the fourth quarter.

King's struck again 3:30 into the final frame. Kelly had a shot on goal that was turned away, and the Monarchs tacked on another tally. Moments later, Schneider found the back of the net once again, officially breaking the DelVal single-season points record with his 61st point, making it 14-3 with nine minutes remaining. After a slashing penalty against Savering, the Aggies killed off the man-down situation thanks to a post and another save. Savering responded immediately after the penalty, scoring off a feed from Schneider. DelVal added another goal when Kelly scored unassisted following a man-up opportunity, his 14th of the season. King's answered back with another goal, but the Aggies capped the scoring when Savering and Schneider connected once more on a man-up play, bringing the final to 15-6.

With the loss, DelVal concludes the 2025 season with a 4-12 overall record and an 0-7 mark in MAC Freedom play.
