Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University field hockey made it two wins a row thanks to a 3-1, non-conference triumph over visiting Immaculata University.
DelVal, which is tied for first in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom, improved its overall record to 6-8 on the season. The Mighty Macs fell to 5-9.
The Aggies controlled the play for the majority of the afternoon, including a dominant first half that saw them outshoot Immaculata, 21-1.
Samantha Collyer picked up where she left off after scoring the overtime winner at DeSales University on Saturday as she put DelVal on the board just 7:18 into the contest.
Cecelia Lounsberry made a run down the right sideline and sent a perfect pass in front. Collyer was there to put it in the cage for the early advantage.
The Aggies kept the pressure on, but could not put another one past Immaculata goalkeeper Sarah Pasternak until the end of the half.
Timera Brooks-Watts sent a pass from the right side and it went right to
Kara Imes, who scored with just 62 seconds left before the intermission.
DelVal wasted no time to up the lead to 3-0 in the second half as it got a corner opportunity in the opening minute.
Stefania Swider received a pass at the top of the circle and her shot was re-directed in by Collyer.
The Mighty Macs avoided the shutout with 16:22 remaining as Haley O'Donnell was sent on a breakaway. The defense caught up to O'Donnell, but she was able to maintain possession and drove a shot into the cage.
DelVal finished with a 34-5 advantage in shots and a 19-3 lead in corners. Pasternak had 18 saves to keep Immaculata in the contest. Freshman
Rosie Bishop had three saves for the Aggies, who will host MAC Freedom foe King's College to kick off Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 15 (7 p.m.).
