Box Score WILKES-BARRE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University field hockey team opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play with a wild, 5-3 loss at King's College on Friday evening.
The setback dropped the Aggies to 4-4 overall while the Lady Monarchs improved their mark to 7-3.
DelVal managed just three shots in the game and all three found its way into the back of the cage. However, King's had 26 attempts with 15 on goal and five of them went on the board in the highest combined scoring game of the year for both teams.
The Lady Monarchs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on tallies by Alyssa Monaghan and Madysen Jones. The Aggies got one back with 9:19 left in the first half as freshman
Samantha Collyer redirected a
Carlie Baldus shot off a penalty corner opportunity. It was Collyer's third goal of the season.
Baldus then tied the contest just 38 seconds into the second half as the sophomore knocked in a loose ball in the circle for her fifth goal of the season.
Taylor Prichett was credited with the assist.
However, King's scored two times in a 41-second span to take a 4-2 advantage. Caitlin Wood notched what proved to be the game-winning tally with 6:48 into the stanza and Monaghan shortly followed with her second goal of the game.

Timera Brooks-Watts picked up her first collegiate goal off an assist from Prichett to make it a one-goal game with 23:30 remaining. However, three minutes later, Anna Morgan gave the Lady Monarchs some breathing room with her goal from eight yards out.
Emily Aldridge notched 10 saves for the Aggies, who will return to action on Wednesday, September 30 with a trip to non-conference foe Alvernia University. Paige Tedik did not record a save in the game, but picked up the win for King's.
