Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University senior forward
Taylor Prichett scored with 7:12 remaining in the first overtime to reach the 100-point milestone in her career and lift the Aggies to a 2-1, non-conference win over visiting St. Mary's College (Md).
It marked the third straight season that the two teams had their contest decided in overtime with the home team winning each contest (DelVal in 2013 and 2015, St. Mary's in 2014). Saturday's triumph upped the Aggies' record to 3-1 while the Seahawks fell to 2-2.
Midway through the extra session,
Samantha Collyer dribbled down the left side and sent the ball deep in St. Mary's territory. Prichett caught up to the loose ball, went around a defender and blasted a shot in the far right corner of the cage from 10 yards out for the game-winning tally.
Prichett became just the third player program history to reach the century mark in points, joining current assistant coach
Michelle Cernobyl (155 points from 2005 to 2008) and Bethany Pavlik (124 points from 2006 to 2009) on the exclusive list. Prichett has 40 goals and 20 assists in her career, including three tallies and five assists for 11 points this season.
St. Mary's held a 7-1 advantage in shots in the first half, but the game was scoreless at the break. DelVal hit the scoreboard nine minutes into the second stanza as, off a corner opportunity, Prichett hit the post, but
Stefania Swider was there for the rebound and the goal.
The Seahawks tied the contest up with 18:30 remaining as they crossed the ball into the circle and Brady Wolf got control in a scramble and scored. Nina Collins was credited with the assist. St. Mary's had the first opportunity in overtime as a shot by Wolf was nearly re-directed by Emily Bishop, but it went just wide of the cage. Six minutes later, Prichett had the tally and the milestone.
The Seahawks finished with advantages of 14-9 in shots and 11-6 in corners.
Emily Aldridge made seven saves in net for the Aggies while Alyssa Thompson had three saves at the other end.
DelVal is back home on Tuesday, September 15 when it hosts Albright College for a non-conference game.
