DelVal Baseball Ends '15 Campaign With Pair Of Losses At King's

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WILKES-BARRE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University baseball team completed its 2015 season with a pair of Freedom Conference losses at King's College. The Monarchs took the first game, 7-3, and followed with an 8-3 triumph in the nightcap.
 
The Aggies finished with a 13-23 overall record and a 3-18 mark in the Freedom while King's ended its campaign 11-21 and 6-15.
 
The opener saw King's score four times in the first inning, including a two-run single by Kyle Lupas. It remained 4-0 until the top of the fifth when Delaware Valley struck for three runs on three hits. Austin Bregman led off with a double and Kyle Wenger followed with an RBI triple. After a walk to Matt DeWald, Corey White drove in a run with a single. Ben Lippincott knocked DeWald in on a fielder's choice.
 
However, the Monarchs responded in their half of the fifth inning with three runs on three hits and one Aggie error. Lupas delivered the big blow with a two-run double. Delaware Valley did not a get a runner on base the rest of the way.
 
Lupas was 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Andrew Fisher picked up the win as he allowed three runs over seven innings. Bregman and Wenger were each 2-for-4 while Cayton Curtis was 2-for-3 for Delaware Valley. Mike Kearney pitched five innings and suffered the loss.
 
The Aggies struck first in the second game as they racked up two runs in the first inning and one more in the second. In the first, Bregman reached first on a wild pitch and scored on Wenger's double to left field. Wenger then stole third and scored on a throwing error. In the second, Jeremy Stewart led off with a walk, stole second and scored on Lippincott's single down the right field line.
 
King's tied the contest over the fourth and fifth innings and then took command in the sixth as it plated five runs on three hits and three Delaware Valley errors.  Ryan Gimbi picked up the win as he allowed just the three early and did not permit a hit after the second inning. He also struck out three. Bruce Breithaupt was 4-for-4 with three RBIs in the win.
 
Lippincott and Wenger were each 1-for-3 for the Aggies. Wenger, a preseason All-American, finished the year with a .432 batting average (only behind Bregman's .434 mark) and led the team with a .712 slugging percentage, a .517 on-base percentage, 51 hits, 36 runs, 29 RBIs, 22 stolen bases, eight doubles, five triples and five home runs.
