AGGIE BASEBALL FALLS TO ALBRIGHT, 9-8, IN HOME OPENER

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – In a wild, non-conference game that lasted more than three hours and featured 17 runs and 24 hits, it was visiting Albright College that outlasted Delaware Valley College, 9-8. The game was called after eight innings due to darkness.

Albright improved to 7-8-1 on the season while the Aggies fell to 6-8. Delaware Valley will return to Freedom Conference action on Tuesday when it travels to DeSales University for a single, nine-inning contest.

Both teams put 12 hits on the scoreboard and each left 11 on base. The game also featured a combined 13 walks and seven errors.

The Lions took an early 2-0 lead, before Delaware Valley answered with three runs in its half of the first, including a two-run single by Corey White. Albright received RBIs from John Medvecky and Dylan Boll in the top of the second, but Kyle Wenger's solo homer in the bottom of the stanza was one of two runs for the Aggies as they led 5-4.

Boll doubled to left to knock in a run in the fourth and Gabe Santone followed with an RBI single for a 6-5 advantage. Back came Delaware Valley as White singled home Austin Bregman to tie the contest in the bottom of the inning.

Albright took the lead for good in the sixth thanks to a run-scoring single by Julian Cimino. It added single tallies in the seventh and eighth innings to make it a 9-6 contest.

Delaware Valley rallied in the bottom of the eight as it loaded the bases with one out. White singled in two runs and Wenger, who walked prior to White's at-bat, advanced to third and just 90 feet away from tying the game. However, a strikeout and an unassisted play at third base ended the threat and the umpires called the game due to darkness.

White was one hit shy of tying the school's single-game record as he was a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBIs. Wenger was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Bregman had two hits and two runs scored while Bobby Altieri also scored twice. Trevor Dalton took the loss in relief.

Mat Costa picked up the win for the Lions while trey Eberly got the final two outs and picked up his second save of the year. Medvecky was 3-for-4 with four runs scored while Boll was 2-for-5 and knocked in two runs.
