Box Score EDWARDSVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team concluded its inaugural season with a 25-7, Freedom Conference setback to host Wilkes University.
The Aggies finished their first year with a 2-12 overall record and a 0-6 mark in league games while the Lady Colonels improved to 10-5 and 2-4.
Wilkes took control of the contest early, scoring the first four goals in less than six minutes, the first and last of which coming from the stick of Madeleine Brownsey. The Aggies made it 4-1 with just over 23 minutes to play in the half when
Graeleigh Lackey registered her first of the day.
The Lady Colonels came back with two more tallies before Lackey found the back of the net again on another unassisted tally. From there .Wilkes went on a 7-0 run to extend its lead to 12-2 before Delaware Valley's leading scorer, Lackey, found the back of the net for the third consecutive time. Wilkes eventually took a 18-3 lead into the break.
Delaware Valley wasted no time getting on the board to start the second half as Lackey won the draw control and set up
Taylor Teliszewski for her first of the afternoon and 19
th of the year. After the Lady Colonels tacked on two more,
Kara Imes earned a free position attempt and capitalized for her fourth free position goal of the season in five attempts. Teliszewski added one more just over seven minutes later and the score was 20-6 with 16:11 left in regulation. Wilkes scored five of the final six goals in the game, the Aggies' tally coming from Imes, as it ran away with the 25-7 victory.
The Aggies were led by Lackey's three goals and one assist for four points and Imes and Teliszewski each added two tallies.
Sarah Fenwick finished with 10 saves.
For Wilkes, Carly Smith had an incredible 12 points as she picked up six goals and six assists while Tori Kerr also notched six goals to go with one helper for seven points. Brownsey was able to find the back of the net five times on 12 shots.
