Box Score CENTER VALLEY (PA) – DeSales University scored in each of its final four at-bats as the Bulldogs pulled away to an 11-1, Freedom Conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley University.
DeSales improved to 18-12 overall and 13-2 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 8-16 and 2-11. The two will resume their three-game series with a doubleheader at Delaware Valley on Sunday (both teams will have three-game series with Freedom opponents before their twinbill).
The Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as
Bobby Altieri reached on an error and moved to third when
Samuel Amos singled down the right field line. The two then moved up a base with Altieri crossing home plate on a wild pitch.
DeSales took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth coming on a double steal and a wild pitch. It added two more in the fifth on a throwing error and a suicide squeeze and then once more in the sixth with an RBI single by Alec Hardy.
The Bulldogs then padded their advantage with three runs in both the seventh and eighth inning. Conner Lafferty had the big blow in the seventh with a two-run single while Carrington Santana added a two-run double in the eighth.
Delaware Valley managed just three hits in the game with two coming from Amos, who was 2-for-3.
Liam Constantine added the other base knock with a double in the fifth.
Jake Richard went six innings and took the loss.
Chris Polaski hurled seven strong innings for the win for DeSales. He allowed the one unearned run and just two hits while fanning six. Tommy DePaul had three of the team's 14 hits while Santana was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
