Box Score 2 FORT PIERCE (FL) – Delaware Valley College split a doubleheader for the second day in a row as the Aggies took the opener against Martin Luther College (MN), 5-2, before galling in the second game, 11-2.
Delaware Valley is now 2-2 on its Spring Break trip to Florida while the Knights moved their mark to 1-5.
The Aggies scored its lone run of the opener in the first as
Kyle Wenger singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single by
Corey White. However, Martin Luther pitcher Jonathan Kock shut them down for there as he permitted just four hits the rest of the way, en route to a complete-game win.
The Knights answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the first and added single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Mike Kearney took the loss as her allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits over five innings. White was 2-for-3 at the plate.
The nightcap was tied at 2-2 before Delaware Valley exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Bobby Altieri and
Kevin Crill had two RBIs apiece in the inning while
Matt DeWald and
Nate Cummings also drove in runs.
The Aggies added two more in the sixth on an RBI single by
Jeremy Stewart and a sacrifice fly by
Nick Liantonio.
Trevor Dalton notched the win as he went six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits. Wenger led the 13-hit attack with a 3-4 showing. Altieri, Cummings, DeWal and Stewart had two hits apiece.
