Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College outscored visiting Bryn Mawr College, 5-2, in the second half as the Aggies pulled away to a 10-6 triumph and the second win in program history.
Delaware Valley, which also defeated Cedar Crest College back on March 4, improved to 2-5 in its inaugural year of intercollegiate competition. The Owls fell to 3-6.
The Aggies trailed early before
Taylor Teliszewski and
Graeleigh Lackey scored back-to-back goals to go up 2-1 with 16:43 left in the first half. Bryn Mawr came back just 63 seconds later and evened it up with a Fiona Steele tally.
Delaware Valley followed with a pair of goals with Lackey playing a part in both of them. She scored off a Teliszewski assist with 9:55 left in the half and then set up
Kara Imes for a tally with 7:30 to go. Claire Johnson and Nora Broderick responded for the Owls to tie the game at 4-4, but
Jacqueline Ricks found the back of the net with just 25 seconds left before the intermission to give Delaware Valley a lead it would not relinquish.
In the second half, Teliszewski scored the Aggies' next two goals while Johnson notched a tally in-between for Bryn Mawr to leave the score at 6-5.
Delaware Valley then took command with four consecutive goals over a 12-minute span. Teliszewski began the run with 15:49 remaining and
Lydia Spakosky followed three minute later off a free position shot.
Nicolette Angelella had back-to-back tallies for the 10-5 lead. Johnson netted her fourth goal of the day for the Owls with 1:14 left to conclude the day's scoring.
Delaware Valley held a commanding 35-13 advantage in shots and a 40-32 edge in ground balls. Teliszewski finished the day with three goals and one assist while Lackey had two goals and one helper. Angelella had two goals and nine ground balls while Amana Ortiz added two assists.
Sarah Fenwick made four saves in net for her second win.
Johnson's four goals led Bryn Mawr while Steele had one goal and two assists. Georgia Dominique grabbed 10 ground balls and Katie Alpert stopped 13 shots in goal.
