Box Score GALLOWAY (NJ) – In the first women's lacrosse game in Delaware Valley College history, the Aggies traveled to Richard Stockton University and dropped an 18-6, non-conference decision.
It was the first game of the season for both squads as the Ospreys were coming off a season that saw them finish 10-5 overall. For the Aggies, it was a special day as they took the field for the first time since the school announced it would sponsor the sport on an intercollegiate level 18 months ago.
It didn't take long for Delaware Valley to make history as freshman attacker
Taylor Teliszewski scored the first goal in program history just 58 seconds into the game.
Lydia Spakosky was credited with the first assist and it tied the game at 1-1 (Stockton scored 29 seconds on a goal from Sky Mahoney-Kendra).
From there, the Ospreys went on to score five unanswered goals over the next 15:45, including a pair of goals from Nicole Miller and Brianna Rolke, to take a 6-1, first-half lead.
The Aggies responded with a free position goal as freshman
Corinne Militana netted her first of the afternoon at the 13:17 mark. The game went scoreless over the next five minutes before the Ospreys scored twice in less than a minute, the last coming from Miller with 7:25 on the clock. Militana controlled the ensuing draw, raced down the field and notched her second tally of the day. Stockton scored five more before the break for a 12-3 halftime advantage.
The Ospreys remained hot to open the second half, scoring three more times in the first seven-plus minutes for a 15-3 lead. Later in the half, the Aggies capitalized on a turnover and Militana found the net with her third of the contest.
After a goal from Rolke made it 16-4, Delaware Valley scored two consecutive times with Militana picking up her fourth and Teliszewski her second of the day. That would be all the Aggies could muster in their inaugural showing as Stockton went on to score two more times to walk away with the 18-6 victory.
Delaware Valley got 16 shots on goal in the game but was just 1-for-5 on free position shots compared to a 6-for-10 showing from the Ospreys. Militana and Teliszewski combined for six goals and 11 shots on net for the Aggies.
Sarah Fenwick played all 60 minutes between the pipes and made five saves in her debut.
Stockton was led by five goals from Miller, four from Knight and three from Rolke.
