Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Seven players recorded points to help the Delaware Valley University field hockey team earn a 5-3 win over Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe DeSales University on Friday to kick start Homecoming & Family Weekend.
The Aggies evened their overall record at 6-6 and they are 2-1 in the conference. The Bulldogs dropped to 3-10 and are winless in the MAC Freedom with a 0-3 mark.
Freshman
Samantha Collyer put DelVal ahead just 4:57 into the contest with the first of her two goals. She tapped in a cross from junior
Cecelia Lounsberry. Collyer's second tally came with 23:00 remaining in the opening half when she deflected in a shot from freshman
Timera Brooks-Watts.
DeSales got on the board just over four and a half minutes later off a penalty corner. Sophomore Kelly Meade sent the ball across the arc to freshman Chelsea DeFrancisco, who blasted the ball through traffic into the cage. DeFrancisco had an opportunity to tie the game at the 10:16 mark when she was awarded a penalty stroke but senior
Emily Aldridge came up with a big save for the Aggies. The final goal of the period came from DelVal. Sophomore

The Bulldogs got back within one just over seven minutes in to the second half. Senior Jesse Marshall found junior Alexa Beaumont for a breakaway. Beaumont stickhandled around the keeper and got a shot off into the vacated net. However, DelVal bounced back less than two minutes later to restore a two-goal lead. Sophomore
Carlie Baldus deflected in Prichett's shot from the top of the arc.
Prichett registered a goal of her own off a penalty corner with 22:45 to go. Junior
Stefania Swider sent the ball across the arc to Prichett, who banked it in off a defender. DeFrancisco tried to start a final Bulldogs rally with 5:25 on the clock. She tipped in a shot by senior Meryah Harding. The Aggies did not allow another shot the rest of the way.
Aldridge stopped five shots for the victory. Freshman Savanna Lacek made four saves in a losing effort. DelVal held the advantage in shots (14-10) and penalty corners (15-7).
The Aggies are back in action on Tuesday, October 13 when they travel to Kean University (7:30 p.m.).
