DelVal Men's Soccer Drops 3-1 Effort To Gwynedd Mercy

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Danny Saba scored two goals while Chris Black had three assists as Gwynedd Mercy University recorded a 3-1 victory over host Delaware Valley University in a non-conference game.

The Griffins improved to 4-8-1 overall while the Aggies fell to 4-7-1.

Gwynedd Mercy managed just two shots in the first half, compared to six by DelVal, but the team put both of them into the net. Just 3:57 in, Black sent a long pass and Saba got to the ball before Aggie goalkeeper Austin Brotman and put it into the net. Sixteen minutes later, Black sent Saba in on a breakaway and he connected for the 2-0 lead.

Black set up another Saba for the Griffins' third goal, but this time it was Matt Sava, who scored with 27:23 remaining. DelVal got on the scoreboard with 16:31 left as Nick Miller sent a pass to Alec Scarano, who blasted home his fourth tally of the year. The Aggies put the pressure on the rest of the way, but it was Gwynedd Mercy who managed the victory.

DelVal held advantages of 13-9 in shots and 4-2 in corners. Brotman had one save for the Aggies while Greg Gengaro had seven stops for the Griffins.

DelVal will host Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom foe Wilkes University for Homecoming on Saturday, October 10 (7:00 p.m.).
