DOYLESTOWN, Pa- A hard fought physical contest ended in a 1-1 draw as Delaware Valley and Misericordia follow an intense game.
The opening 45 minutes saw some substitutions and physical play as both sides tried to establish a rhythm. Delaware Valley broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Roy Hevener capitalized on an attacking opportunity, forcing past Misercordia goalkeeper Jannotte to put DVU ahead 1-0.
Misericordia attempted to respond before the break with shots from Dieffenderfer, Walden, and Stangil, but DVU's defense held firm, and Delaware Valley carried their one goal lead into halftime.
Trailing by a goal, Misericordia came out aggressively in the second half. Delaware Valley tested Jannotte early on with shots from Josh Difillipo around the 58th minute, but MIS keeper stood tall to keep the deficit at one.
The pressure finally paid off for Misericordia in the 73rd minute. Eisenhart found the back of the net off a precise assist from Fogarty, leveling the score at 1-1. It was a physical second half and after the goal in the 82nd minute Nathan Congdon received a yellow card.
Both teams traded momentum and made numerous tactical substitions down the stretch looking for a late winner. DVU's Chalie Sheel and MIS's Pisani both forced key saves from opposing goalkeepers in the closing minutes, but neither side could find a breakthrough.
The Aggies will hit the road to Steven's in Hoboken NJ, Saturday, October 17th at 5:00 p.m.
