Doylestown, Pa- Delaware Valley University and DeSales University played to a 0-0 draw in a tightly contested match that saw both teams create chances but neither able to find the back of the net.
Delaware Valley had an early opportunity in the 18th minute when Everett Kurtz fired a shot wide of the right post. The Aggies continued to threaten the Bulldogs later in the half, Roy Hevener forcing a save from DeSales goalkeeper Hojnowski in the 31st minute. Then in the 44th minute Delaware Valleys team received a yellow card. DeSales answered with chances of its own, including shots from Barrie and Knouse, but neither found the target.
The second half featured increased pressure from both sides. Delaware Valley's Karl Kowula tested Hojnoski twice, with the DeSales keeper making saves in the 54th and 80th minutes. DeSales also generated several opportunities, including shots from Knouse, McCurry, and Lentz, all of which were either saved by Delaware Valley goalkeeper Nick Becker or missed the frame.
Becker and Hojnowski each recorded multiple saves while keeping their respective teams in the match. The physical nature of the contest was also evident, with several fouls and four yellow cards issued throughout the second half which were to Coffield in the 53rd minute, Amos Debah in the 55th minute, Cardinale in the 71st minute, and to Lamborne in the 75th minute.
Despite late opportunities including shot by DeSales' Sullivan in the 86th minute neither team could break through. After 90 minutes, the match ended Delaware Valley 0, DeSales 0.
Delaware Valley is now 5-2-3 overall. The Aggies will hit the road Saturday October 10th at 3:00 p.m. to play Marywood.
