DelVal Field Hockey Suffers 4-2 Setback To FDU-Florham

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Kim Davis scored three goals to lift visiting FDU-Florham to a crucial, 4-2 victory over Delaware Valley University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom game.

The win improved the defending conference champion Devils to 10-5 overall, 3-1 and tied with King's College for second place in the league standings. The Aggies dropped into a tie with Wilkes University and Misericordia University for the fourth and final playoff spot with a 2-2 league mark (6-8 overall). Those are DelVal's next two opponents, starting with a road game at Wilkes on Wednesday, October 21.

The Aggies struck first as, just 8:35 into the game, Taylor Prichett took a shot that went off the goalkeeper's pad. A scramble ensued and the ball rolled toward Samantha Collyer. The freshman lifted it into the cage for her seventh tally of the season.

However, FDU-Florham was awarded a penalty stroke less than three minutes later. Davis stepped up and the nation's 25th-leading goal scorer put the shot in the top left corner for a 1-1 tie.

It remained deadlocked until the final minutes of the first half when the Devils tallied two goals in a 28-second span. Davis got the first one with 1:23 left as she received a pass from Erin O'Connell, spun around and connected. FDU-Florham came back down a pass from Alicia Grotyohann found Noelle Shirey in front of an empty net and she scored with 55 seconds to go.

DelVal took advantage of a five-minute penalty to the Devils and they pulled to within one with 28:53 remaining. Cecelia Lounsberry sent a long crossing pass from the right side and Collyer was there to deflect it in.

However, the Devils sealed the game with 9:41 to go as Makalya Pak sent a shot toward the goal and Davis was there to put it in for her 17th tally of the year and a hat trick.

FDU-Florham held advantages of 17-9 in shots and 11-8 in corners. Amy Defnet made two saves in the win while the Aggies' Emily Aldridge stopped seven shots.
