Box Score DOVER (DE) –
Taylor Prichett scored 2:03 into the second overtime as Delaware Valley College knocked host Wesley College from the unbeaten ranks with a 1-0, non-conference victory.
The victory improved the Aggies to 2-3 on the season while the Wolverines fell to 4-1.
The second overtime nearly ended a minute earlier as Wesley's Lauren Mears got a shot behind the Aggie goalkeeper. However, defender
Lydia Spakosky was there to stop it. It was Spakosky's second defensive saves in the overtimes as she stopped a potential game-winner in the first extra session.
Shortly after Spakosky's heroics, Delaware Valley moved the ball down the field and into the circle. A scrum ensued in front of the goal and
Jessica Summers was able to get the ball to Prichett, who scored her sixth goal of the season and her second game-winning tally. It also upped the junior's career point total to 75 (32 goals, 11 assists), tying her with Diane Bradley (1979-82) for fourth place on the Aggie all-time scoring list.
Both teams had nine shots after regulation with Delaware Valley having a 6-5 edge in corners. The Aggies had two shots that went wide in the first 96 seconds of the first overtime and they finished with seven shots compared to four by Wesley in that 15-minute session. Both teams had one shot in the second overtime with Prichett's finding the back of the cage.
Emily Aldridge picked up the win in goal for Delaware Valley as she stopped six shots on the evening. Sarah Daniels also had six saves for the Wolverines.
