Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Senior
Pete O'Hara became just the second player in school history to reach the 200-hit plateau for a career as the Delaware Valley College baseball team culminated its 2014 campaign with a non-conference, doubleheader sweep of Valley Forge Christian, 22-0 and 20-4.
The victories gave Delaware Valley a 16-19-1 overall mark on the season while the Patriots ended their year with a 1-26 record.
O'Hara entered the day needing seven hits to reach the milestone. In the first game, he went 3-for-5 with three singles, three RBIs and two runs scored. In game two, he recorded a single and a two-run triple in the first inning, but flied out to center field in the bottom of the third. Coming to bat again in the fourth inning, O'Hara laced an RBI single to reach the milestone and join Tony DeLude (219 hits from 1999 to 2002) on the exclusive list. O'Hara, a three-time all-Freedom Conference honoree, also finished his storied career as the school's second all-time leader in runs scored (150) and stolen bases (78).
In game one, Delaware Valley scored 20 of its runs in the first three innings and it had a 17-hit onslaught over the contest.Â
Matt DeWald went 4-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored from the designated hitter position while
Corey White was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.Â
Bobby Altieri,
Brandon Bell and
Kyle Wenger each picked up a pair of RBIs and scored a combined nine runs.Â
Jake Richard earned the win as he closed out his season with a 4-4 record thanks to a two-hit, five-inning performance in which he struck out eight batters and walked just two.
Game two was much of the same as the Aggies scored nine runs in the first inning and added four in the third and seven more in the fourth. Altieri was 2-for-3 in the contest with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored while Wenger also went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.Â
Wayne Kinsey got the start at third base and went 3-for-4 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.Â
Mike Kearney picked up the win with four innings of two-hit ball and seven strikeouts as he finished the season with a 4-3 record.
Wenger, who was named the Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year on Friday, finished his freshman season with a .479 batting average that placed him seventh on the all-time single season list. His 13 doubles tied him for fifth in Aggie single-season history.
