DESALES BASEBALL COMPLETES SWEEP OF DELVAL

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DeSales improved to 23-13 overall and 17-4 in the conference. It finished tied atop the standings with Misericordia University but held the tiebreaker edge as it took two of three games from the Cougars this season.

The Aggies fell to 13-18-1 overall and wrapped up Freedom play with a 5-16 mark. They have four non-conference games remaining beginning with a home doubleheader and Senior Day against The City College of New York on Sunday.

The first game was scoreless until the fourth when the Bulldogs put two on the board as Mike Karcergis tripled in a tally and then scored on a Carrington Santana single. Three runs in the fifth, including two off a double by Mark Westdyk, made it a 5-0 contest.

Delaware Valley made things interesting in the top of the six as Pete O'Hara scored on a wild pitch and Brandon Bell crossed home on Corey White's RBI single. However, DeSales countered with two runs in its half of the sixth for the 7-2 final.

Karcergis and Westdyk had two RBIs apiece while Andrew Schuler went the distance for the win. Bell had two hits and run scored to pace the Aggies. Zach Kulikowski took the loss.

The nightcap was a 1-0 contest until the top of the fifth when Delaware Valley tied it as Connor Buhler singled up the middle with one out, moved to second on a Matt DeWald base knock and scored when Jordan Heisler doubled to right-center field.

However, the Bulldogs answered with a six spot in the bottom of the fifth. Tommy DePaul knocked in the go-ahead run with a single and Brian Mauro had the big blow with a two-run double.

The Aggies' final tally came in the sixth when Kyle Wenger hit a two-run double and White followed with an RBI single. They were two of Delaware Valley's five hits in the game off of Eric Dillard, who went five-plus innings for the win. Mike Kearney went four-plus innings for Delaware Valley and took the loss.
