DELVAL BASEBALL SWEEPS BAPTIST BIBLE

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Delaware Valley College racked up 25 runs and 27 hit, en route to a non-conference, doubleheader sweep of visiting Baptist Bible College on Monday.  The Aggies took game one, 10-7, and ran away with a 15-6 triumph in the nightcap.

The two wins improved to Delaware Valley to 13-15 overall while the Defenders saw their losing streak go to seven games as they fell to 4-17 on the season.

Trevor Dalton got the call for Delaware Valley in game one and pitched five innings of scoreless baseball, striking out seven batters and surrendering five hits and three walks.  The Aggies got the scoring started in the first inning with a five-run, two-out rally.  Matt DeWald had the big blow in the inning with a two-run double to right-center.  Corey White, Michael Anusky and Bobby Altieri each added RBI singles in the frame.

Delaware Valley scored one run in the second, third and fifth innings to take an 8-0 lead into the top of the sixth.  Kevin Cahill came on in relief of Dalton and gave up one run on one hit and one error.  The Aggies countered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.  Jordan Heisler led off again with a triple to right-center and scored on an RBI single by Nate CummingsTom Colaiacovo got aboard with a double to deep center and came around to score to extend the lead to 10-1.

Baptist Bible made it interesting in their last at-bat as it managed six runs on just one hit and two errors.  Nick Chupick had that lone hit in the inning, but the Aggies escaped with the 10-7 victory
DeWald was a home run shy of the cycle in this game as he went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored.  Anusky, Heisler, Kyle Wenger and Corey White each had two hits in game one and combined for five runs scored.

Game two was much of the same with Mike Kearney getting the start and pitching five inning. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out six.  Offensively, Delaware Valley scored in all but one inning again. 

In the top of the first, the Aggies scored three runs on one hit and one error.  In the second inning they put up six runs on seven hits including an inside-the-park home run to deep right center from Anusky.   The next batter was DeWald, who doubled down the left field line and later scored on an RBI single from Zach Kulikowski.

The Aggies manufactured one more run in the third inning and the Defenders got on the board in the top of the fourth to make it a 10-1 game.  Delaware Valley answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame on two hits and an error.  Nate Poore had an RBI single in the inning and Pete O'Hara doubled to score Poore and Kulikowski, who reached base on an error. 

Baptist Bible made one last-ditch effort in the top of the sixth when the Defends scored four runs on three hits and one error.  Nick Chupick and his brother, Joe Chupick, each tripled in the inning and came around to score.  The Aggies added one more run in their half of the sixth when Brandon Bell scored on a wild pitch for the 15-6 final.

In the nightcap, Bell was 3-for-5 at the dish with an RBI and three runs scored.  Wenger had three RBIs of his own and a run scored on 1-for-3 hitting.  Poore was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
