AGGIE BASEBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER AT MANHATTANVILLE

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PURCHASE (NY) – Manhatttanville College completed a three-game, Freedom Conference sweep of Delaware Valley as the Valiants took both ends of Saturday's doubleheader, 8-1 and 1-0.

The wins put Manhattanville closer to clinching a conference tournament berth as it improved to 16-11 overall and 10-7 in the Freedom. The Aggies fell to 11-15 overall and 5-13 in league action.

In the opener, the Valiants put four on the board in the first inning and added four more runs between the third and sixth innings. Delaware Valley avoided the shutout in the seventh as Jordan Heisler led off with a double and Pete O'Hara drove him in with a two-out, two bagger. O'Hara had two of the Aggies' seven hits as he went 2-for-4 with two doubles. Ben Lippincott came in the game in relief after four batters and allowed two earned runs in six innings. Mike Kearney took the loss.

Joe Anselmi and Nick Euvino had three and two RBIs respectively for Manhattanville. Michael Lyon went the full seven innings for the win as he allowed one run and struck out four.

The nightcap was a pitcher's duel between Delaware Valley's Jake Richard and the Valiants' Zack Zareva. Richard allowed just one run and seven hits over six innings and suffered the tough loss as the third-inning RBI single by Robbie Lynch was the lone tally of the game.

Zareva went six innings and permitted just three hits while fanning three. Sam Garito pitched a scoreless sixth and Joe Palmieri came into the game in the seventh. The Aggies put one on in the inning as Michael Anusky singled to left-center to lead off the stanza. However, Anusky was gunned down while trying to steal second. Palmieri then got the next two batters for his fourth save of the season.

Kyle Wenger led Delaware Valley in the second game as he went 2-for-2 and stole three bases.
