DELVAL FIELD HOCKEY IMPROVES TO 3-0 WITH 7-3 ROUT OF NEUMANN

Box Score ASTON (PA) – Junior forward Jessica Summers notched her first career hat trick and also added two assists as Delaware Valley opened a season 3-0 for the first time in four years thanks to a 7-3, non-conference victory at Neumann University.

The Knights (0-4) were able to get on the board first as Lindsey Spatola scored off a feed from Kenya Woods 12 minutes into the game. However, the rest of the day belonged to the Aggies as they scored seven unanswered goals, including four in the opening half.

Delaware Valley answered Neumann's goal just five minutes later when Leah Hawthorn assisted Summers for her first tally of the day. Summers then netted an unassisted goal with 13:35 left in the half for the 2-1 lead. The Aggies followed with two goals in a four-minute span as Summers this time set up Hawthorn for her second goal of the year, and freshman Bree Musselman notched her first collegiate goal off a feed from Kelsey Zook.

The scoring continued early in the second half as Delaware Valley found the back of the cage three times in seven-minute span. Summers completed her hat trick off a Lydia Spakosky assist before assisting on Taylor Prichett's first tally of the day. Prichett got her second goal of the game and team-leading fifth of the season off a Maddie Raville assist with 18:51 left.

Summers' stellar day continued her torrid start to the season as she has four goals and four assists for 12 points in three games. Prichett is right behind with five goals and one helper for 11 points.

Delaware Valley College finished the game with a 35-16 advantage in shots. Sandra Edwards and Emily Aldridge split time in net for the Aggies with each keeper notching four saves.

For Neumann, Spatola picked up the final two goals of the game for a hat trick of her own. Becca Wallace had 17 saves in the game for the Knights.
