Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College surrendered its first home loss of the season on its new turf field as Juniata College used a pair of second-half goals for a 3-1 victory in a non-conference tussle.
The win brought the Eagles back to .500 at 4-4 while the Aggies dropped to 5-3 (4-1 at home) and saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.
Juniata took a 1-0 lead less than five minutes before halftime after Sara Bilheimer and Liz Slimak charged down the field on a two-on-one. Bilheimer finished the play with her fourth goal of the season and Slimak earned the assist.
The Aggies came out strong in the second half and tied the game seven minutes in when
Maddie Raville, from the top of the circle, fed a pass to
Taylor Prichett who was camped out in front of the cage. Prichett was able spin off a defender and beat the goalie with a nifty backhand shot for her team-leading 10th tally of the year.
However, the Eagles answered about 15 minutes later when they lined up for a penalty corner that was played in to Alex Stroud at the top of the circle. Her shot was deflected in front by teammate Steph Pagliaro and past the goalie for her second tally of the season. Juniata then iced the game with 4:25 left when Emma Dahmus found the back of the cage after a scramble in front.
Delaware Valley had its chances as it held a 10-6 advantage in penalty corners, but was outshot by Juniata, 12-10, on the day. Shelby Miller was credited with the win as she and fellow keeper Julianne Jones, split time in goal for the Eagles and each registered three saves.
Sandra Edwards had seven saves on the afternoon for the Aggies.
