Box Score 2 WILMINGTON (DE) – Delaware Valley College senior
Janel Gluch broke the school's all-time record for kills as the Aggies split two decisions to Division II schools in a tri-match at Goldey-Beacom College.
Delaware Valley began its day with a 3-0 sweep of Cheyney University (25-10, 25-19, 25-20), but fell to Goldey-Beacom, 3-1, in the second match (25-10, 25-21, 25-27, 25-22).
Gluch entered the day with 950 kills in her collegiate career, leaving her just 13 kills shy of breaking the school record of 962 set by Emily Traylor (1999-2002). She had nine kills in the opening match and broke the mark in the second as she finished that contest with 13 kills.
In the match against Cheyney, Gluch and
Gina Page paced the Aggies in kills while
Alyssa Riggins and
Destinee Horning had seven and six kills respectively. Riggins was hot from the service line with four aces and she also added four digs in the match.
Crystal Ronan assisted on 32 points and led the defense with 11 digs. In the match,
Amy Bodine,
Nicole Daigneault and
Emily Gerhard all recorded their first career kills.
Linday Ashby and Virshae Campbell led the charge for Cheyney with Ashby scoring on eleven kills and Campbell on eight. Kennetha Wallace had 24 assists while Breanna Joseph had eight digs and a match-high two blocks.
Delaware Valley was unable to complete the sweep as Goldey-Beacom (3-5) took care of the Aggies in four sets. In this match, Gluch broke the record in the first set when she ran a back slide and capitalized on a setup from
Crystal Ronan. Ronan finished with 29 assists.
The rest of the match belonged to the Goldey-Beacom, which had four players post double digits in kills. They were led by Kadi McCoy and her 21 kills. Casey Blair had 12 kills while Grace McCarthy and Taylor Moyer each had 11.
