Box Score PURCHASE (NY) – Manhattanville College scored in five of the eight innings it came to the plate as the Valiants opened a three-game Freedom Conference series with a 12-3 win over visiting Delaware Valley College.

Manhattanville improved to 4-13 overall and 2-5 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 7-9 and 1-5. The series will shift to Doylestown for a doubleheader on Friday.

The Valiants scored three runs in the bottom of the first, including an RBI double by Sean Ferguson. Delaware Valley got one back in the top of the second as Brandon Bell led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Corey White.

However, Manhattanville answered with one in the bottom of the stanza as Jordanis Nunez smacked an RBI double. The Valiants then put the game with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings for a 10-1 lead.

The Aggies got their final runs with single tallies in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Nate Reddell led off with a base hit and later scored on an RBI ground out by Jim Calabrese. Then in the eighth, Jordan Heisler doubled and crossed home on an RBI single by Boo Weaver.
