DELVAL BASEBALL RALLIES LATE BEFORE FALLING TO KING'S IN 10 INNINGS

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Eric Bohem's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning proved to be the difference as King's College finished off a three-game sweep of host Delaware Valley College with a 4-3 victory on Sunday.

The Aggies (7-8, 1-4 Freedom) trailed 3-1 with one out in the bottom of the ninth before they loaded the bases on a Corey White walk and back-to-back singles by Zach Kulikowski and Mike Anusky. Jeff Sennett then drew a walk to make it a one-run contest. Brandon Bell then grounded to second and controversy ensued King's (9-2, 3-1) went to turn a game-ending double play. The second baseman dropped the ball, but the umpire ruled that it was after the out was recorded and the fielder was making the transition to throw the ball. The tying run scored, but it left Delaware Valley with runners on first and third and two outs rather than the bases loaded and one out. After a long at-bat with numerous foul balls, Pete O'Hara flied out to right and the game went to extra innings.

In the 10th, Rob Lemoncelli led off with a second and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brian Mikus. The Aggies then intentionally walked Chris Sweeney for the third time in the game after Sweeney had two home runs and six RBIs in Saturday's twinbill against Delaware Valley. That brought Bohem to the plate and his base hit to center brought home Lemoncelli for the 4-3 lead. Joe Dorbad, who entered the game after Sennett's walk in the ninth, retired the Aggies in order in the bottom of the 10th to pick up the win.

King's opened the scoring in the first as Lemoncelli led off with a single, stole second and scored on a Sweeney single. The Monarchs added two more in the fifth with a two-run single by Bohem. Delaware Valley's first run came in the eighth as Sennett doubled and came around to score on a single by Jordan Heisler.

Pat Matthews started and pitched seven scoreless innings for King's while allowing just three hits and striking out six. Bohem was 2-for-5 with three RBIs while Lemoncelli was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs.

Less than 24 hours after King's combined for 30 runs and 30 hits in two games, Jim Calabrese and Chris Kelly held the Monarchs to just four runs and eight hits. Calabrese went seven innings and allowed three runs and six hits while Kelly pitched the final three stanzas and took the loss. Anusky was 3-for-4 while five separate Aggies had one hit apiece.
