DELVAL BASEBALL DROPS TWO AT KING'S

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WILKES-BARRE (PA) – King's College racked up 30 runs and 30 hits on the afternoon, en route to a home doubleheader sweep over Freedom Conference foe Delaware Valley College, 12-5 and 18-5.

The wins improved the Monarchs to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in league action while the Aggies saw their four-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to 7-7 and 1-3. The two teams will wrap up their three-game series with Sunday's nine-inning contest in Doylestown.

Delaware Valley jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opener as it scored two runs in the first inning and added three more in the second. In the first, Jordan Heisler drove one in with a double while the second tally came in on a ground out by Mike Kearney. Andrew Welch (single), Brandon Bell (double) and Pete O'Hara (ground out) knocked in the runs in the second.

King's tied the game in the bottom of the second as Anthony Lizzi hit a two-run homer while the final three runs came with two outs in the stanza. It stayed that way until the sixth when the Monarchs scored seven times off six hits and one Aggie error. Six different players notched RBIs in the inning.

Lizzi went 3-for-4 with the home run, two runs scored and three RBIs to pace King's. Brenton Eades went the distance and picked up the win. Bell was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Aggies. Jake Richard took the loss in relief.

The second game was all Monarchs as they scored in all six of their innings, including a nine-run second stanza that gave them an 11-1 advantage. Fourteen batters came to the plate and combined for seven hits.

Delaware Valley's run in the second came on a sacrifice fly by Boo Weaver. Weaver also an RBI in the three-run third with a bases loaded walk. Corey White drove in the other two in the inning with a single. The Aggies' final tally was in the seventh on an RBI fielder's choice by Jim Calabrese.

Ryan Giambi pitched four innings for King's and improved to 3-0 on the year. Chris Sweeney was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and four RBIs. Lizzi added three more hits and drove in three.

Heisler was the lone Delaware Valley to have a multiple-hit game in the nightcap as he went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Cody Hudnall took the loss.
