DELVAL BASEBALL SPLITS FREEDOM TWINBILL WITH FDU-FLORHAM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT PIERCE (FL) – Delaware Valley College opened Freedom Conference play by splitting a pair of games with FDU-Florham in Florida. The Devils took the opener, 8-2, but the Aggies bounced back with a 3-1 triumph in the nightcap.

Delaware Valley and FDU-Florham, which are now both 4-5 overall, were scheduled to be in Florida for their Spring Break weeks. With conference play opening this weekend back home, the two teams arranged to have its doubleheader in the Sunshine State. The squads will complete their three-game series with a single contest at Delaware Valley next Sunday, March 24.

The Aggies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first game thanks to a two-run double in the third inning by Jeff Sennett. However FDU-Florham took command with five runs in the bottom of the stanza and followed with two more in fourth and one in the sixth.

The nightcap belonged to Delaware Valley hurler Cody Hudnall as went the full seven innings and allowed just one run on six hits. He did not walk a batter and fanned six.

Mike Kearney opened the scoring for the Aggies with an RBI single in the second. The Devils tied the game in the fourth and it remained 1-1 heading into the top of the sixth. With two outs, Pete O'Hara reached on a single and then stole second. O'Hara then scored the eventual game-winner on Jordan Heisler's RBI single. Sennett followed with a single to put runners on the corners. FDU-Florham then threw away a pickoff attempt, allowing Heisler to score the final run of the contest.
