AGGIE FIELD HOCKEY ROMPS TO 6-2 WIN AT KING'S

Box Score WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Taylor Prichett notched her first collegiate hat trick and also assisted on a goal while Jessica Summers added a goal and two helpers as Delaware Valley College remained in first place in the Freedom Conference with a 6-2 victory at King's College.

The win improved the Aggies to 8-4 overall and, more importantly, 2-0 in league action. They are tied with FDU-Florham for the top spot in the conference and avenged a loss at King's in last year's Freedom semifinals. The Lady Monarchs fell to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Prichett, a sophomore, and Summers, a junior, entered the contest as the team's leading scorers with 22 and 20 points respectively. The two combined for 11 points on the afternoon with Prichett upping her totals to 13 goals and 29 points. It was also the fifth, multiple-goal game of the year for Prichett. Summers moved up her numbers to eight goals and eight assists for 24 points.

Delaware Valley struck four times in a 14-minute span in the first half as it raced out to the big lead and eventually took a 4-1 advantage into the intermission. Prichett began the scoring 14:05 into the half off a rebound. She then set up Kelsey Zook for a blast off a corner opportunity three minutes later. Summers then assisted on Prichett's final two tallies as she completed the hat trick with goals at 22:02 and 28:29 of the half.

Summers notched her goal just 2:18 into the second stanza as she deflected a shot by Zook into the net. King's Alyssa Monaghan made it 5-2 midway through the half before freshman defender Elana Keller notched her first collegiate goal with an unassisted tally with 9:02 remaining.

Delaware Valley outshot the Lady Monarchs, 19-11, and held a 13-9 advantage in shots. Sandra Edwards shook off an illness and recorded six saves for the win. Megan Withrow and Paige Tedik combined for nine saves for King's.
