DELVAL FIELD HOCKEY FALLS, 4-2, TO WESLEY

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Wesley College scored in the final seconds of the first half and added three more in the second as the Wolvernies posted a 4-2, non-conference victory over host Delaware Valley College.

Wesley improved to 6-4 overall while the Aggies fell to 7-4. It also marked the end of a six consecutive home games for Delaware Valley and it went 4-2 during that stretch. The team will be on the road for five of the final seven regular-season games, starting with a Freedom Conference tilt at King's College this Saturday, October 5.

Delaware Valley dominated the first half as it held a 12-4 advantage in corners and a 10-7 advantage in shots. However, the Aggies could not put one past Sarah Daniels who had eight saves in the half.

Then as the clocked ticked down towards halftime, the Wolverines' Madison Leone sent a crossing pass into the box and it was deflected by Brittany Blacksten. The ball stayed on the left side of the goal and Renee Schneider was there to put it in with just 1.4 seconds left on the clock.

Wesley needed just 2:10 into the second half to score again as Leone blasted one from the top of the circle off a corner pass. Lauren Mears added a breakaway goal nine minutes later and Leone followed with another blast off a corner with 15:07 left for a 4-0 advantage.

Delaware Valley avoided the shutout as it scored twice in the final 6:01. The first was a deflection by Bree Musselman off a Taylor Prichett shot and the second was when Leah Hawthorn took a shot from outside the circle and it went off the goalie and in.

The Aggies finished with advantages of 21-12 in shots and 16-10 in corners. Sandra Edwards made six saves in the loss while Emily Aldridge played the final 14:16. Daniels had 10 saves for Wesley while Kayla Fromal added four stops in the final 14-plus minutes.
