ANNVILLE (PA) – Lebanon Valley College scored 13 unanswered runs as the Flying Dutchmen erased an early 4-0 deficit and defeated visiting Delaware Valley College, 13-4, in a non-conference game.
Lebanon Valley improved to 20-15 on the season while the Aggies saw their overall mark drop to 13-16.
Delaware Valley scored all four of its runs in the top of the third inning thanks to two hits and a pair of Flying Dutchmen errors.
Pete O'Hara knocked the first run in with a single and
Cory Weingart followed with a ground out that scored a second tally. Later in the stanza,
Jake Barben ripped a two-run double for the 4-0 advantage.
Lebanon Valley got one back in its half of the third and then took command of the game by scoring six runs on five hits in the fourth inning. Phil Dohner and Colt Zarilla each had two-run singles to key the outburst.
The Flying Dutchmen added three more runs in the sixth and another three in the eighth. They finished the game with 17 hits, including five by Dohner as went 5-for-6 with two doubles and four RBIs. Zarilla was 2-for-5 with two RBIs while Ryan Schwartz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Brent McDowell picked up the win in relief.
Barben had two of the Aggies' five hits as he was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. O'Hara, Weingart and
Jim Calabrese had the remaining knocks.
Mike Kearney went three-plus innings on the mound and fell to 2-2 on the year.
