DOYLESTOWN (PA) –
Matt Bodine and
Jeff Sennett went a combined 7-for-8 with four runs scored and seven RBIs as Delaware Valley College notched a 13-1, non-conference victory over visiting Valley Forge Christian College.
The win improved the Aggies to 11-14 on the season. They finished the contest with 17 hits and at least one knock in all eight innings they batted in. They put runs on the scoreboard in five separate stanzas.
Bodine was a perfect 4-for-4, including run-scoring singles in the fourth and sixth innings. His hit in the sixth knocked in two and made it a 7-1 contest. Meanwhile, Sennett was 3-for-4 on the afternoon and he scored three times while knocking in four. Three of his four RBIs came on a bases-clearing double to highlight a six-run, eighth inning.
Cory Weingart had a three-hit afternoon as the senior was 3-for-5 and scored a run.
Pete O'Hara went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI while
Brandon Bell came off the bench to go 2-for-3. On the mound,
Mike Kearney improved to 2-1 as he went six innings and allowed just one run and six hits while striking out nine. Four relievers combined to retire nine batters in a row to end the contest.
Valley Forge Christian (3-20) picked up its lone run in the sixth inning as Ben Goodman delivered an RBI double. Joel Aponte went four innings and took the loss. Aponte and two other hurlers allowed just three earned runs in the game as the Patriots committed four costly errors.
