DALLAS (PA) – Nationally-ranked Misericordia University extended its winning streak to seven games with a 10-1 triumph over visiting Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference contest.
The Cougars, ranked as high as 20th in Division III, improved their mark to 18-2 overall and 6-0 in the Freedom. The Aggies fell to 7-9 and 0-6.
Misericordia scored two runs in each of the first three innings for a 6-0 lead. Delaware Valley got on the board in the top of the fourth as
Pete O'Hara and
Mike Ferrier laced back-to-back doubles to start the stanza.
However, the Cougars answered with three runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth for the 10-1 final. Chris Tuttle went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while had a pair of doubles and drove in two. Ron Guido allowed one run and five hits over seven innings to get the win.
O'Hara and
Dan Hrubos each went 2-for-4 for the Aggies. Ferrier was 1-for-3 with the one RBI.
Mike Kearney lasted just three innings and took the loss.
