DELVAL DROPS FREEDOM TWINBILL TO MISERICORDIA IN FLORIDA

FORT PIERCE (FL) – Misericordia University received complete-game performances from Pat Clark and Evan Robaczewski as the Cougars took a pair of Freedom Conference games from Delaware Valley College, 4-1 and 2-0.

The two teams were in Florida at the same time for their Spring Break trips and scheduled the twinbill (with Delaware Valley as the home team). They will complete the three-game series with a single contest at Misericordia on March 25.

Misericordia upped its record to 11-1, including nine straight victories. Eight of those triumphs came on its Florida trip. Delaware Valley, which arrived in the Sunshine State on Friday, fell to 1-2 overall.

Delaware Valley opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as, with two outs, Dan Hrubos and Mike Ferrier had back-to-back singles. Matt Bodine then ripped a double that scored Hrubos, but Ferrier was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

Misericordia scored two runs in the second and added two unearned tallies in the seventh. Clark scattered nine hits over seven innings and struck out six for the win.

Jim Calabrese took the loss despite allowing just two earned run and five hits over seven innings. He walked five and fanned five. Pete O'Hara had two hits for the Aggies.

In the nightcap, Robaczewski permitted just four hits, en route to the shutout. The Cougars got their lone run in the second thanks to an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk.

Chad Schmuck pitched six innings for Delaware Valley and allowed two runs and eight hits while striking out five. Spencer Smith hurled a scoreless seventh inning.
