OWINGS MILLS (MD) – Mindy Minconzi scored three goals and assisted on another – all in the first half – as Delaware Valley College routed College of Notre Dame (Md), 11-0, in the final day of competition at the 2010 Black Eyed Susan Tournament at Stevenson University.
The Aggies (2-1) dominated the contest from the moment the whistle blew as they had 39 shots and 13 penalty corners while allowing none in both categories. Twenty-five of the shots came in the first half with seven resulting in goals.
Nikki Rogers opened the scoring off a penalty corner less than seven minutes in with
Holly Rich notching the assist. Miniconzi then connected three straight times for the senior's first collegiate hat trick. The first tally came 20 seconds after Rogers' goal with Rich picking up her second assists. Miniconzi completed her hat trick with goals coming with 13:03 and 8:49 remaining for a 4-0 advantage.
The scoring onslaught continued as Delaware Valley notched a trio of tallies in the final 96 seconds of the half. Rich got her third helper of the day as her crossing pass led to a goal by
Emma Prince.
Rony Jacober scored off a freed from Miniconzi on a penalty coner with 31 seconds left, and
Danni Heller scored off a Prince assist with just two ticks to go.
Hawthorn picked up the team's first and fourth goals of the second half while Heller and Rogers got their second goals of the game in-between.
Hollis Hancock and
Sandra Edwards played a half apiece in goal and shared the shutout.
