MADISON (NJ) – Drew University tallied four goals in the first half, including three by Kevin Walpole, as the regionally-ranked Rangers cruised to a 5-0, non-conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley College.
Drew, which was ninth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Mid-Atlantic Region poll, improved its record to 8-1 on the year. The Aggies fell to 5-3-1.
Walpole put together a natural hat trick as he scored the opening three goals of the contest, all off headers. The first two came off corner kicks by Matthew Greenberg and Phil Makiba at the 6:27 and 13:37 marks, and he then headed in a cross from Kevin Veliz with 7:54 left in the half. Chris Gibaldi made it 4-0 with just 43 seconds to go before the intermission, and Zach Mass concluded the scoring midway through the second half.
Drew held advantages of 21-6 in shots and 15-3 in corners.
Tristan Preece and D.J. Meisinger combined for six saves for Delaware Valley.
