ISGRO TIES CAREER HOME RUN RECORD, DELVAL DROPS TWO AT WILKES

EDWARDSVILLE (PA) – Delaware Valley College senior standout Mike Isgro tied the school's all-time record for home runs, but the Aggies' dropped a pair of Freedom Conference games to host Wilkes University, 11-9 and 12-4.

Delaware Valley saw its record overall record drop to 13-21-1 overall and it wrapped up conference play with a 5-16 mark. The Aggies will end their season next Saturday, May 8 when they host Penn State Brandywine for a non-conference doubleheader. Wilkes concluded its 2010 campaign with a 14-19 overall record and a 6-15 showing in the league.

Isgro will have those Penn State Brandywine contests to not only try to take sole possession of the Aggie career home run record but the single-season mark as well. He had a two-run, inside-the-park homer in Saturday's opener and added a solo blast in the seventh inning of the nightcap to give him 18 career round-trippers and tie Brandon McCabe's school mark. It also upped his season total to 11 to tie him with current assistant coach Matt Altieri for second place in the category and just two shy's of McCabe's record total from the 2004 campaign. Isgro is already the school's all-time leader in RBIs with 133 and he is also tied for third in both hits (179) and triples (12), fourth in doubles (32) and tied for fifth in runs scored (118).

Isgro's inside-the-parker (his second of the season) came in the fourth inning and gave Delaware Valley a 6-3 lead. The Colonels pulled to within one with two runs in the bottom of the stanza, but the Aggies added another tally in the sixth as Zach Chodur knocked in Isgro with an RBI single.

However, Wilkes loaded the bases with one out against Isgro in the bottom of the sixth. Randy Dengler then hit a grand slam home run to give the Colonels the lead for good at 9-7. They added two more in the inning on RBIs by Jeremy Watson (double) and Shawn Ward (single). The Aggies rallied for two runs in the seventh inning and had the tying run at the plate, but a double play ended the game.

Isgro was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs, but took the loss on the mound. Jake Barben went 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Chodur was 3-for-4 and knocked in one. Dylan Saldutti was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and one RBI.

Dengler was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and eight RBIs to pace the Colonels. Mark Siebel picked up the win in relief.

The second game was all Wilkes as it scored seven runs off of six hits and two Delaware Valley errors in the opening inning. Tom Plessi and Justin Fortin each had two-run singles to key the stanza. Wilkes added a run in the fifth for an 8-0 advantage before the Aggies scored two in the sixth on an RBI ground out by Chodur and an RBI single by Jeff Sennett.

The Colonels plated four in their half of the sixth, including a three-run homer by Rich Cosgrove, before Isgro's round-tripper in the seventh ended the scoring. Isgro was 1-for-3 while Dan Hrubos and Mike Otstot were each 2-for-3. Jim Calabrese suffered the loss.

Cosgrove was 2-for-4 with the home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Carmen Lopresto went 3-for-3 and scored two times while Mike McAndrew had two hits and two RBIs. Tom Buckler went the distance and picked up the win.
