MADISON (NJ) – FDU-Florham scored in six of the eight innings it batted in as the Devils downed visiting Delaware Valley College, 13-2, in Friday afternoon's Freedom Conference game.
FDU-Florham won two of the three games in the series with the Aggies and improved to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Delaware Valley fell to 8-10 and 1-7 and will return to action on Monday, April 5 when it hosts Eastern University in a nine-inning, conference game.
The Aggies trailed 4-0 heading into the fourth inning when they put one on the scoreboard as
Mike Isgro walked and eventually scored on a double by
Bobby Oakes. However, the Devils responded with two runs in their half of the stanza to up their advantage to 6-1.
Delaware Valley scored again in the sixth as a
Brandon Olewine ground out brought home
Jake Barben, who singled in the inning. FDU-Florham put the contest away with four in its half of the inning and three more in the seventh.
Marc Hubbert paced the Devils by going 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and four RBIs. Matt Joiner went 3-for-5 and knocked in a pair of runs while Alex Sariyan was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Matt Mizerek went six innings and picked up the victory.
Oakes was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Aggies, who finished the day with just five hits.
Brian Hafer took the loss and fell to 1-3 on the year.
