DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Manhattanville College racked up 13 hits while John Kain went the full nine innings on the mound as the Valiants posted a 10-4 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

It was the first of a three-game series between the two teams as the setting will now shift to Purchase, New York for Saturday's doubleheader. Manhattanville improved to 12-5 overall and 7-6 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 10-14-1 and 2-11.

Kain improved to 4-2 on the season as he allowed just two earned runs and eight hits while striking out four. Meanwhile his offense put at least one runner on base in six of the nine innings and scored in five of the stanza.

A two-run single by Chris Nastasi in the top of the first gave the Valiants an early advantage. Delaware Valley got one run back in the bottom of the inning as Kellen Jarrett led off with a single and scored on a RBI double by Dylan Saludtti.

Manhattanville got RBI singles by Daniel Fiorito and Joe Gallace in the third and fourth innings respectively for a 4-1 score. The Aggies made in a one-run ballgame again in the bottom of the fourth as Jake Barben doubled home Zach Chodur and he eventually scored on a error.

An RBI double by A.J. Triano in the fifth inning upped the Valiant lead to 5-3. It stayed that way until the eighth inning when Manhattanville touched the Aggie bullpen for three runs on five hits, two walks and one error. Gallace (single) and Nastasi (hit by pitch) had RBIs in the stanza while Fiorito put the game away with a two-out, two-run single.

Delaware Valley notched the final run of the contest in the ninth on an RBI ground out by Gary Cooper. Saldutti was the lone Aggie to have a multiple-hit afternoon as he was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Chodur was 1-for-4 and scored a pair of runs. Sean Tappan took the loss despite allowed just four earned runs in seven innings. The senior also fanned nine.

Nastasi was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Fiorito went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs. Gallace (3-for-5) and Paul Blejec (3-for-4) had three hits apiece with Gallace knocking in a pair of runs and Blejec scoring twice.
