FORT PIERCE (FL) – Delaware Valley College improved to 5-1 on its Spring Break trip to Florida as it swept a doubleheader from College of Mount Saint Vincent College on Wednesday. The Aggies opened with an 8-3 victory and followed with a 7-6 triumph.
Sean Tappan earned the win in the first game as the senior went five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits. He walked one and fanned six. The victory was the 14th of Tappan's career and he moved into a tie for eighth place on the school's all-time list.
The offense was once again paced by
Mike Isgro as the senior went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs. His triple was in the first inning and followed
Dylan Saldutti's run-scoring triple. Saldutti was 1-for-2 in the game.
Dan Hrubos was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases while
Kellen Jarrett was 1-for-2 with a two-run double.
The nightcap saw Delaware Valley trail the Dolphins (3-8), 6-0, after two innings before rallying for the victory. Isgro knocked in two more runs as he went 1-for-2 while sophomore transfer
Jake Barben went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Freshman
Jim Calabrese made his first collegiate start at third base and was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, stolen base and two runs scored. Jarrett and Saldutti were each 2-for-3 with Saldutti also stealing a base and knocking in a run.
Matt Giberson picked up the win in relief of
Chris Albaugh. Giberson did not allow an earned run and permitted two hits in two innings of work. Senior
Mike Cavallaro notched his second save of the season.
