DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Calli Berryman and Danielle Terracciano scored two goals apiece as King's College used four unanswered tallies for a 4-2 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.
The win was the seventh in the last eight games for the Lady Monarchs as they improved to 9-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in league play. The Aggies fell to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the Freedom.
Delaware Valley hit the scoreboard just 9:55 into the action as freshman
Leah Hawthorn notched her fifth goal of the season off an assist from
Rony Jacober. However, King's responded just 44 seconds later as Terracciano hit the back of the cage for the first time on the day and her sixth of the season. Jenera Quinones picked up the assist.
Quinones helped set up the next goal as both her and Shawna Walp picked up the assists on Calli Berryman's sixth tally of the year with 20:33 left in the half. Berryman then made it 3-1 just 4:44 into the second half, and both she and Walp assisted on another tally by Teracciano for a three-goal advantage with 22:24 remaining in the game.
The Aggies made things interesting three minutes later as Jacober picked up her team-best ninth goal of the season off an assist from
Holly Rich. They were then awarded a penalty stroke with 11 minutes to go, but King's goalkeeper Erin McGinley made a pad save on
Kate Highberger's attempt. Delaware Valley never threatened the rest of the way.
The Lady Monarchs had a 20-7 advantage in shots and a 9-3 advantage in corners. McGinley finished with four saves while
Hollis Hancock had 13 stops for the Aggies.
