AGGIES DROP 5-0 DECISION TO WIDENER IN SEASON OPENER

RADNOR (PA) – The Delaware Valley College women's soccer team opened its 2009 season with a 5-0 loss to Widener University in the opening round of the Cabrini College Soccer Festival.

The Aggies, who lost seven starters from last year's Freedom Conference runner-up squad, will now face the host school on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Widener scored four times in the first half, including a pair of tallies in the opening 11 minutes, to put the contest away. The Pride finished the game with a 34-3 advantage in shots and a 5-0 advantage in corners.

Sam Baer led Widener with two goals and an assist while three goalies combined for the shutout. In her first collegiate game, Aggie freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth McQuillan notched 14 saves, including nine in the second stanza.
